The Benefits Of Water Aerobics

Posted on November 24, 2011 by No Comment

Finding a suitable aerobic activity when you are pregnant can be challenging. As your joints and bones soften as you progress through your pregnancy, the dangers of strain or injury in standard aerobic workout increases, making most high impact exercises unsuitable for a pregnant woman.

However if you want to keep fit during your pregnancy and make sure you  look as good as you can in your maternity clothes, then an ideal way to work your body without risking a high impact injury is to take yourself in the water.

Using the water around you to keep you buoyant when you exercise decreases the impact on your skeleton significantly creating protection for your joints as you work out. And water aerobics is no easy option. Not only can you work out as hard as you can in your standard aerobic class but the water itself creates a resistance which actually makes you work harder.

And once your baby is born, water aerobics becomes a great way to loose your pregnancy weight while still spending time with your baby. Invest in some plus size swimwear that will pull in your baby belly and support you as you recover from your pregnancy and you can take your baby with you to the swimming pool to spend some quality time together while making the most of the water.

Always seek medical advice before starting any exercise during pregnancy or immediately after, but following a quick word with your doctor or midwife, you can be enjoying the benefits of the water before you know it.
